    Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Panels

We sell a range of Solar Photovoltaic (Solar PV) panels ranging from 5W up to 240W and we also stock a Solar Powered Well Pump. We stock a range of sizes, but we can provide solar photovoltaic panels form 5W and upwards in increments of 5W. Our Solar PV Panels are very attractively priced, but at the same time maintain high quality levels. We use large aluminium sections for the module frame, which provides excellent rigidity - much better than most of the well-known names in the industry. Electrical connections are located in a small waterproof electrical box at the back of the panel, and larger panels are provided with quick-fit outdoor high-voltage connectors as standard, making wiring up strings a piece of cake. These panels are suited to both small scale, low voltage battery-based installations as well as larger grid-tie (connected to the national grid) systems. Swithenbanks solar is also able to provide charge controllers/ regulators for solar PV systems, Grid tie inverters and mounting systems for solar photovoltaic arrays.

Our panels are solar polycrystalline panels made from wafers of silicon laminated between an impact-resistant transparent cover and an EVA rear mounting plate. The solar PV's are constructed with a lightweight anodised aluminium frame which is predrilled for linking to other frames / roof mounting structure, and contain waterproof electrical terminal box on the rear.

Expected yield: In order to calculate the expected yield from these solar PV panels, it is assumed that the UK receives on average (bad days and good days) around 4-5 hours peak sun hours during the summer and 1 hour of peak sun hours in the winter. In terms of roof area, 1m2 will generally equate to approximately 140 watts of solar PV panel For an array of 1kWp, you would expect to produce around 750kWh of electricity per year, if sited on a suitable south-facing location. Solar PV yields will vary across the country, and you can expect significantly more solar power from Devon and Cornwall by comparison to Scotland.

Please note: Dimensions of the solar PV panels may vary slightly depending on PV efficiency and orientation. If the size is critical, please call us to double check the dimensions at time of order.

Roof Mounting Clearance: Panels should never be mounted so there is no air flow under them, as they can reach very high temperatures that way, this will lower efficiency and shorten the life span of the solar PV's.
