Wind Turbines

Swithenbanks supplies a variety of wind turbines from 200W upwards. Unlike most other suppliers, our turbines have been specifically developed with low wind sites in mind - which provides better outptut in areas which only experience low wind speeds. This is achieved through the use of over-size blades (for example, compare our 200W to an average UK 1kW machine - they are about the same diameter! This means that our 200W turbine starts up at a very low wind speed, reaches it's rated output in a relatively low wind, and is capable of generating up to 800W in a heavy wind. Unlike many manufacturers, we believe that wind turbines should be rated at realistic seeds, and most customers report better-than-expected output. Our standard wind turbines are provided as a full package including ground stakes and wire and a sectional tower We can also supply free-standing towers as an alternative option - although there is a higher cost for these. We offer a range of turbines from 200W up to 20kW, but can provide utility-sized turbines if required. We also provide dump loads and dump load controllers to avoid over-charging batteries.
